Allah Ta’ala says: ‘Search for me and you will find me’

Is there a Hadith Qudsi which has the words ‘Utlubni…’ (search for me)

Answer

Hafiz Ibn Kahtir (rahimahullah) has cited a narration in his Tafsir which has the mention of Allah Ta’ala saying :

‘ O Son of Adam, I created you for my worship so do not be unmindful of this, I have taken responsibility of your sustenance so do not tire yourself so search for me you will definitely find me, for if you have found me, you have found every thing and if you lose me, everything has lost you and I should be the most beloved to you’

(Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Surah, 51 verse, 60)

The above narration has been sourced from Historical sources as ‘Allamah ibn Taymiyyah and Hafiz Ibn Kathir (rahimahumallah) have mentioned. It may be quoted, but not as a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa salaam).

(Majmu’ul Fatawa, vol. 8 pg. 52)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best
