‘Uthman (radiyallahu ‘anhu) making du’a at the Mizab of the Ka’bah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Is this narration authentic?

Answer

This narration is recorded in Akhbaru Makkah as part of a lengthy narration wherein Hasan Al Basri (rahimahullah) wrote a letter to a pious person explaining the virtues of Makkah and the virtues of living in Makkah Mukarramah.

(Akhbaru Makkah of Imam Fakihi, Hadith: 1545)

The chain consists of an unnamed narrator and is therefore weak.

Translation

‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (radiyallahu ‘anhu) once came to his companions and said, ‘Aren’t you going to ask me where am I coming from?’ They said, O leader of the Believers, Where have you come from?’ He replied, ‘I was standing at the door of Jannah.’ He was standing under the Mizab [The water spout/gutter of the Ka’bah] supplicating unto Allah.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
