Hadith warning against looking at a strange woman

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Can you please translate the following Hadith and explain its authenticity?

قال عليه السلام: من نظر إلى محاسن امراة اجنبية عن شهوة صب في عينيه الانك يوم القيامة

Answer

The translation of the Arabic text that you submitted is as follows:

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:

Whoever looks at the beauty of a woman, will have lead poured into his eyes on the day of judgement

‘Allamah Zayla’i (rahimahullah) has indicated that he was unable to locate this narration. (Nasbur Rayah, Hadith: 7299)

One cannot comment on the authenticity of any narration without locating its chain of narrators.

However, the command of lowering the gaze is sufficiently proven from the Quran.

Say to the believers that they should lower their gazes and (thereby) protect their chastity. That is better for them. Allah is well aware of what they do.

(Surah Nur, Ayah:30)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
