Leaving out istikharah is regarded to be from the misfortune of a person

What is the status of the following Hadith?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“From the evil fortune of a man is his leaving out making istikharah with Allah”

Answer

Imams Tirmidhi, Ahmad and Hakim (rahimahumullah) have recorded this Hadith as part of a longer narration, on the authority of Sayyiduna Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic and ‘Allamah Dhahabi concurs. Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al ‘Asqalani (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of Musnad Ahmad sound (hasan).

(Sunan Tirmidhi, 2151, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1 pg. 168, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 1 pg. 518 , Fathul Bari, Hadith: 6382, vol. 11 pg. 184)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
