A virtue of teaching one’s child the Holy Quran?

What is the status of the following Hadith?

Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) had reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever teaches the reading of Quran to his son (without memorizing it), all his past and future sins will be forgiven and whoever makes his child memorize the Quran will be raised on the Day of Judgement in the semblance of a full moon and his son will be asked to start reciting, and for every ayah read by the child, the status of the parent will be raised to the next higher grade of Jannah, till the recitation of the Holy Quran is completed.”

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration with a chain that consists of unknown narrators.

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 1956)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) states that the chain of narrators consists of narrators who are unknown (في اسناده من لا يعرف). Hafiz Haythami (rahimahullah) has also echoed similar sentiments.

(Ma’rifatul Khisalil Mukaffirah, pg. 78 and Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 7 pg. 166)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
