Those who greet first are the closest to Allah Ta’ala

Is there any reference for this Hadith?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Those who are nearest to Allah are those who are first to greet”

Answer:

Yes. Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).
