Saying ‘Alayhis Salam for Luqman the wise etc

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Is it better to say radiyallah ‘anha or ‘alayhas salam for Maryam? What is the case for disputed Prophets like Luqman?

Answer

‘Allamah Nawawi (rahimahullah) has stated that one should say ‘radiyallahu ‘anhu’ / ‘radiyallahu ‘anha’ for Sayyidah Maryam and Luqman Al-Hakim. He also states; ‘if one were to say ‘alayhis salam or ‘alayhas salam it will also be fine.

(Al-Adhkar, before Hadith: 355)

This is also the widespread practice of the ‘Ulama in general as is evident from their writings.

Lastly, the view of the vast majority is that Luqman Al-Hakim was not a Prophet.

(Al-Adhkar, before Hadith: 355)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
