Whoever hears that Dajjal has emerged should distance himself from him

What is the authenticity of this Hadith?

“Whoever hears that Dajjal [has emerged] should distance himself from Dajjal, for a person will go to him thinking that he is a Mu’min and follow him due to the doubtful [miraculous deeds he will see him performing]”

Answer

Imam Abu Dawud, Imam Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Shaybah, Imam Ahmad and Imam Hakim (rahimahumullah) have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Imran ibn Husayn (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4319, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 38614, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 pg. 431 and Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 531)

Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic. Also see footnotes of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah on Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 38614.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
