The Hadith ‘Should I not be a grateful slave’?

I am looking for the narration which mentions that the feet of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) swelled up due to him offering lengthy rak’ahs of Salah. When he was questioned he said ‘Should I not be a grateful slave’?

Answer

Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Mughirah ibn Shu’bah (radiyallahu ‘anhu). The narration is as follows:

“Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) used to stand in Salah until his feet or legs would become swollen. When asked about it he said, ‘Should I not be a grateful slave?”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1130 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2819)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
