The form of durud (salutations) of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma)

What is the authenticity for the following durud (salutations) of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma)?

‘O Allah, accept the intercession of Muhammad and raise him to the highest rank, and grant him what he desires in the Hereafter and this world’

Answer

Imam ‘Abdur Razzaq As San’ani (rahimahullah) and others have recorded this salutation. The full narration is as follows:

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) would say,

“O Allah, accept the intercession of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) [on the Day of Qiyamah], and raise him to the highest rank, grant him what he desires in the Hereafter [and in this world], like how You granted Ibrahim and Musa (‘alayhimas salam)”

(Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, Hadith: 3104)

‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has declared the chain authentic.

(Al Qawlul Badi’, pg. 122)

The Arabic text of the durud:

اللَّهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ شَفَاعَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ الْكُبْرَى، وَارْفَعْ دَرَجَتَهُ الْعُلْيَا، وَآتِهِ سُؤْلَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَى، كَمَا آتَيْتَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
