Entry into Jannah is solely through the mercy of Allah Ta’ala

What is the authenticity of the narration wherein Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“I also will never gain entry into Jannah, except if Allah Ta’ala enshrouds me with His mercy”

Answer

This Hadith has been reported in many Hadith collections on the authority of a few Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum).

Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded the following version on the authority of Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha):

“…None of you will enter Jannah on account of his deeds. They asked, ‘Not even you, O Rasulullah?’ He replied, ‘Not even me unless Allah Ta’ala covers me with His forgiveness and mercy.”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 6467 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2818)
