A prescription for entry into Jannah

What’s the source of this Hadith?

“Whosoever would be delighted to be delivered from Jahannam and entered into Jannah, then let him die while he witnesses that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger; and he treats people the way he loves to be treated.”

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibnul ‘As (radiyallahu ‘anhu) with a weak chain.

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 4738. Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 8 pg)

However Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded a lengthy narration in which the following words appear:

“Whoever wishes to be saved from Jahannam and enter Jannah should pass away believing in Allah and the Day of Qiyamah and should treat the people as he wishes to be treated”

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1844)

The Hadith in question is suitable to quote.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
