Repentance for every situation the sin is committed

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

If a person has committed a specific sin, but in different ways. e.g. committing kufr by saying something, and committing kufr by believing something. Does the person then need to repent for both situations, or can a person make a general repentance for the sin?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

A person needs to be vigilant on what he says and does. It is no small thing to commit Kufr. When a person commits Kufr, he needs to recite the Kalimah again, and renew his Iman. He also needs to renew Nikah, and perform Haj again.

Nevertheless, one general Tawba is sufficient for all sins.
