Torn Khuff (leather sock)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

I have made wudhu and then put on my khuffs. Then after some time I made wudhu and masah on the khuff. I then read dhuhr amd only later realised that the sock was torn at the bottom. The tear looks quite bad but I dont remember seeing it before. I would like to know if I should make qadha of my dhuhr salaah.

The tear is about the size of the bottom of a pencil (the round part) but there is also a line about 5 – 6 cm long which is a bit see through

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

If you do not remember seeing the torn portion before, your Salah is valid.

As for using this Khuff in future, If the tear size is literally just a millimeter or two (the size of the nib of a pencil), and about 5-6 centimeters long, then it is still permissible.

If you want a more accurate answer, you may send a picture of the Khuff to +27 (0) 81 414 2080.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
