Daydreaming

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

I like 2 celebrities but one of them shared a story with nazar amulet emoji in it and other one worked in drama in which nazar amulet was hanging.  As i have heard that blue nazar amulet is haram and shirk . If i discourage their bad things and like good things? Is it likeliness to shirk??or is it kufr? I kinda daydream about them and I know it’s bad but is it kufr/ shirk.
I am trying to leave this habit.

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

When a person admires someone, then his goal is to become just like them. Therefore, our ‘celebrities’ are the prophets, companions and the pious.  By holding them in esteem, we desire to emulate them as much as possible.

Whilst you currently feel content in discouraging the bad things of those who you look up to, every time you see them with those amulets, your subconscious mind begins to accept it. With time, it will be seen as totally normal. Furthermore, are their actions worth following?

Although you have not committed Shirk or Kufr, you need to work towards following the right ‘celebrities’. As a starting point, you should disassociate yourself from your current celebrities, and stop following them. Initially you will miss them, and crave to follow up on what they are doing, but with them, these cravings will cease.

You should read up on those who excelled in their worship and piety. Take them as your role-models, and try to emulate them. Your time spent in learning about them will be considered as worship, and when you follow them, it will lead you to success.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
