What is Kitabul Athar?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

What is Kitabul Athar?

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

Kitabul Athar was the first book in Islam composed after the generations of the sahahbah. Imam Abu HaniFah (RA) wrote it himself and it includes ahadeeth that connect directly to the Prophet of Allah (SAW) (Marfuu), those which stop short at a companion or one of the followers (Mawquf) and those which are attributed to the Prophet of Allah (SAW) directly by one of the followers (tabeen) or followers of the followers (tabe tabeen) without attribution to a sahabah.(Mursal)

Imam Muhammed (RA) narrated each tradition from Imam Abu Hanifah (RA) and then followed each with some explanation, sometimes confirming or occasionally differing with Imam Abu Hanifah (RA).

Only Allah Knows Best.
