Is It Permissible To Use a Nebulizer When Fasting

Question

Is it permissible to use a nebulizer when fasting?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Using a nebulizer will break the fast. If a person is fasting and become unwell and need to use a nebulizer and break the fast and then later make up for this fast after Ramadān.

Such a person is like the sick about whom Allāh said in the Quran:

“…and whoever is sick or upon a journey, then (he shall fast) a (like) number of other days; Allah desires ease for you, and He does not desire for you difficulty, and (He desires) that you should complete the number and that you should exalt the greatness of Allah for His having guided you and that you may give thanks.” (Sūrah al-Baqarah: 184)
