Q: My 8 year old daughter has a persistent cough that won’t go away. If I treat her on her nebulizer is her fast counted? In her medication it’s a liquid substance that I add to nebulizer to open her lungs up which she has to breath through her mouth as it is more effective than the apparatus breathing through the nose. Also can she use a nasal spray to help with nose drip?
A: Technically her fast will break with the usage of the mentioned apparatuses as mediction in liquid form will be passing the throat. Despite the short winter days anf if by allowing her to benefit from her machines just before the exit time of sehri and immediately after the setting of the sun she can still not manage the fast our suggestion is for her to continue the fast despite using the machines so that she be become habitual of fasting so that it will not be strange for her to fast at a later stage.
