Question:
May I give our Qurbani meat to people of other religions?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
“The owner of the animal has the choice of either keeping all the meat or giving it all away to his family, friends or poor. It is best to divide it into three parts. One for personal use, one for family and friends and one part should be distributed amongst the poor.” (Hidayah p:435 v:4)”
“If the Qurbani is of a vow, it is wajib to distribute the meat; therefore, it cannot be given to non-Muslims. Its recipients are the poor.” (Imdadul Fatawa p:551 v:3)
If a person has enough wealth which makes Qurbani wajib upon him, it is not wajib to distribute the meat, thus the distribution of the meat is considered as a gift or an optional sadaqah (Sadaqah Nafilah), therefore it will be permissible to give the meat to non-Muslims although preferable not to.
