Question:

We came to Jeddah Airport and they put hand cleaner, which has alcohol, on our hands to take fingerprints. What is the ruling here?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

“Khamr (wine) is from two trees, dates and grapes.” (Sahih Muslim 1985)

Since the alcohol in the hand wash is made from synthetic alcohol, it is permitted to use.[1]

Only Allah knows best
