Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Somebody joins the fardh salaah when the imam is in any other rukn besides qiyaam. Does he fasten his hands after making takbeer OR Goes direct to the rukn where the imaam is after making takbeer without fastening hands?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

He goes directly to the position of where the Imam is i.e to catch up with the Imam where he is.

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you have missed, make it up.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 635; Muslim, 602.
