Question:

Virtues of Abu Bakr Radiallahu Anhu

Answer:

Bismillah

1.  Saaiduna Amr Ibn Aas raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) deputed me to lead the army of Dhatus Salasil.  I came to him and said, “Who is the most beloved person to you?”  He said: “Aaisha” I asked “Amongst the men?” He, ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) replied “Her father (Abu Bakr)…”   (Sahih Bukhari)

2. Saaiduna Ibn Umar raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) reports “We used to discuss the best of the people during the time of the Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) and we saw the best as Saaiduna Abu Bakr raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him), then Saaiduna Umar raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him), then Uthmaan Ibn Affan raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him).”   (Sahih Bukhari)

3. Saaiduna Ibn Abbas raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) reports “The Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) came out during his illness from which he died, his head bound with a cloth.  He sat on the mimbar, thanked Allah, praised Him and said “There is no one among the people who has been more generous to me with his life and his property than Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Quhafa raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) and if I was to take a bosom friend, I would take Abu Bakr as my bosom friend.  But the friendship of Islam is better.  Block off every door in this Masjid except the door of Abu Bakr.   (Sahih Bukhari p.516 v.1)

4. Saaiduna Ibn Umar raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said “Whoever drags his clothing on the ground with pride will not be looked at by Allah on the Day of Judgement.”  Saaiduna Abu Bakr raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) said “One side of my garment always drags on the ground unless I constantly tend to it.”  The Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said to him: “You do not do it out of pride.”   (Sahih Bukhari)
