Is it permissible in Islam to avail of tax-saving benefits such as home loans and life insurance?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am working in a Multinational company and there are various options to save the TAX. As per my understanding muslims are not supposed to pay any tax but since we are living in India and goverment impose us to pay tax so we pay them. There are various schemes available to save the TAX one of them is HOME LOAN. If i buy a Home with taking loan from bank then i gets rebate of 1.5 Lac of Income tax, the same amount 1.5 lac i can contribute to any poor peoples or charity if its saved. Is it allowed in our shariah to avail such benefits. Others are Life insurance, Mediclaim etc, Just for the sake of saving TAX and i don’t have any intention to use the interest portion which i would recieve from policy. Jazaakumullah.

Answer

(Fatwa: 82/82=D/1429)

In paying home loan, you will have to pay interest as well, which is a sin. Life insurance involves interest and gambling; therefore it is unlawful and haram.

Write down clearly how you will save the tax without committing a sin. Also, write the detail of mediclaim.
