Is it allowed for me to make salaam to my phuppa (father’s sister’s husband) seeing the facts that I only see him once in a few years when I visit my family back home, as we live in totally differents countries and have absolutely no contact?

Alhamdulillah, I have been making purdah from my non mahrams for the last ten years, including first cousins, my phuppa and my brother in laws. My question is about making salaam. Is it allowed for me to make salaam to my phuppa (father’s sister’s husband) seeing the facts that I only see him once in a few years when I visit my family back home, as we live in totally differents countries and have absolutely no contact?

I also wanted to ask, is it alright to relay my salaam to a non-mahram through someone. For example, when my husband is chatting with his brother, is it allowed for me to give his brother my salaam, or reply to his salaam?

If your phuppa (father’s sister’s husband) is old and there is no fear of any fitnah in making salām to him, then you may do so.Similarly, you may convey your salām to your brother-in-law through your husband for the sake of maintaining family ties if there is no fear of any fitnah.However, you should not send any unnecessary messages to him or speak directly with him without a valid reason as this may lead to fitnah.
