I have received an e-mail which states as follows: ‘When there is only a single star left in the sky. At that very moment, the path of forgiveness will close. The writing in the Quran will vanish. The sun will lower itself with the earth. Prophet Muhammad saw said, “Who ever delivers this news to someone else, I will on the Day of Judgement make for him a place in Jannat.” Please pass this to every Muslim you know.’ Is this an authentic hadith?, can I forward this e-mail to other muslims?

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
We have no knowledge of the entire hadith being authentic. However, the part of the hadith that states “the writing of the Quran will vanish” has being recorded in the books of hadith.(Majma’ Al-Zawaaid, vol 7, pg 330, Al-Qudsi)
This e-mail should not be forwarded to anyone as the hadith is not authentically proven.
وعن عبد الله – يعني ابن مسعود – قال: أول ما تفقدون من دينكم الأمانة وآخر ما يبقى من دينكم الصلاة وليصلين ص.637
قوم لا دين لهم ولينزعن القرآن من بين أظهركم قال: يا أبا عبد الرحمن ألسنا نقرأ القرآن وقد أثبتناه في مصاحفنا؟ قال: يسري على القرآن ليلاً فيذهب من أجواف الرجال فلا يبقى في الأرض منه شيء.
رواه الطبراني ورجاله رجال الصحيح غير شداد بن معقل وهو ثقة.
