If I die, how will my estate be divided and is skate halaal?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

1. I’m a married man and if I die I will be survived by my wife, mother and father, one brother and four sisters. My brother and sisters are all married with kids. What share of my estate would each person get? Do our aunties, uncles, nephews, neices, grand parents and in-laws also get a share of my estate? 2. Skate is a type of fish, is it halaal for us to eat?

Answer

According to the Islamic Laws of Succession and Inheritance, the nett estate will be divided into 4 (four) equal shares and distributed as follows: Wife receives 1 share, Mother receives 1 share, Father receives 2 shares.

Due to the father being alive, the brother, sisters, aunties, uncles, nephews, nieces, grandfather will not inherit. Due to the mother being alive, the grandmother will not inherit.

If Skate is a fish, it will be Halaal to consume.
