Is my income Halal?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have doubts about the validity of my earnings and need advice

1. There have been various phases in my job where I do not have sufficient work. Though my managers think I am performing to expectation, I myself know I am not working to the best of my ability and do not deserve the amount I am getting.

2. A lot of times the reason I am idle is because I do not have a very proactive attitude. I do nto actively seek work and reach out to my manager telling him to give me more work. Now if during my job interview stage, I have hid the fact that I am not very proactive, which was one of the criteria for the job, is my earning halal.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakā

If your manager states that you are performing according to expectation, your income is halal.[1]

If you feel you are not proactive, change your attitude, and be so to avoid doubt.
