Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

At the outset we wish to point out that the concept of friendship with the opposite gender is prohibited in Islam. The consequences of such a relationship are harmful to one in many ways. The girl in reference is a clear example of that. Alhamdulillah, it is praiseworthy that you did not commit fornication till now. Never trust the Shaytaan and the tricks of the Shaytaan. Severe your friendship with the girl. She has made tauwba. Allah is most forgiving. Insha Allah, she will be forgiven.

We advise that if you are really interested in marrying her, you should perform istikhara and approach her parents and request her hand in marriage. When making any decision a person must be conscious of its implication. Marriage is a long life commitment for which one should not only base his decisions on his/her emotions, but rather decide with a conscious mind after having consulted with one’s parent and family members.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
