Purchasing Shopping Centre with Liquor Outlet

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by CouncilofUlama.co.za

Q: Many of our Muslim clients purchase existing shopping centres via us. In some cases the is a pre-existing lease to a liquor outlet, however, this is usually very small space in relation to the rest of the centre (around 5% of the total square meters). What are the requirements under Islamic Law in such instances?

A:The requirement is that the percentage rent received from the liquor outlet must be given in charity by the Muslim client.
