I am suffering from piles. I apply Oil (herbal medicine) in the anal region. The medicine ingredient contains cow urine. I have to apply the oil thrice a day for two-three months. Some of the oil gets on the undergarments. Do I need to wash it every time before salaat? The soiled area is maybe 3-4 Cms. What if the soiled area is bigger than this?

Answer

In the name of Allāh, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

It is impermissible for you to apply the herbal medication as it contains cow urine which is impure. However, if this herbal medication is known to be the only and effective medication in treating your sickness, then its usage will be permissible.

If there is no alternative, you may apply this herbal medication. You should use cotton wool, a piece of cloth or pad etc over the oil in order to avoid the impure medication from soiling your clothing.
