Do We Wash the Water Jug After Istinja?

Question:

Salaam Mufti, I had a question about tahara related to at the time of being in an impure state. I’m really confused as to whether the water jug we use to clean ourselves has to be cleaned when we use it while impure. The reason I think this is because when impure if I need to clean my back passage the tip of the jug has to come into contact with my private parts for the water to reach the backside. To be clear it doesn’t touch the tip of the private part rather the private part in general near the pubic hair or the private part itself. Does that mean every time I have a wet dream or a man has intercourse they have to clean that part of the jug (tip of the jug) every time? I’m confused whether I’m meant to or not? I always do it and it gets quite tiring especially when I get wet dreams 2-3 days in a row and I’m already pretty OCD as it is so waste of so much time cleaning the utensil.

Answer:

A water jug does not become impure by mere touching of the body or body parts of a person who is in need of an obligatory ghusl. The water jug will only become impure if actual physical impurities like semen etc. from your body/private parts were to come into contact and remain on it. This can be avoided by either simply washing the tip of the utensil after using it in the situation you describe or by washing and removing any semen/impurities on your private parts before using the toilet.
