Can girls doing hifz pray Quran with gloves on during the state of Haiz?

Answer:

Respected Sister,
Asalaam-mo-Alaikum

It is not permissible under any circumstance for a menstruating lady to recite the Qur’aan. If she does recite some aayaat of the Qur’aan which contain Duas with the express intention of Dua or Zikr then it would be permissible for her to do so. Similarly, if a woman is teaching children or other ladies to recite the Qur’aan, she must teach one ﻛﻠﻤﺔ (word) at a time and break up her recitation whilst teaching. She would only be permitted to teach in this manner.

ﻭﺇﺫﺍ ﺣﺎﺿﺖ ﺍﻟﻤﻌﻠﻤﺔ ﻓﻴﻨﺒﻐﻲ ﻟﻬﺎ ﺃﻥ ﺗﻌﻠﻢ ﺍﻟﺼﺒﻴﺎﻥ ﻛﻠﻤﺔ ﻛﻠﻤﺔ ﻭﺗﻘﻄﻊ ﺑﻴﻦ ﻛﻠﻤﺘﻴﻦ ﻭ ﻻﻳﻜﺮﻩ ﻟﻬﺎ ﺍﻟﺘﻬﺠﻲ ﺑﺎﻟﻘﺮﺃﻥ ﻫﻜﺬﺍ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻤﺤﻴﻂ ﺍﻟﻬﻨﺪﻳﺔ ﺝ1 ﺹ38

Accordingly, if a menstruating girl is becoming a Haafizah, then she too will not be permitted to recite the Qur’aan. She must rather, with the help of a barrier e.g. a cloth and pencil, hold and turn the pages of the Qur’aan and look in the Qur’aan and recite in her heart without applying her tongue.(Fataawaa Rahimiyyah V.4 Pg.279)

In the case of the girls at the school, we understand that the intention would be to recite the Qur’aan and not Zikr or Dua. Therefore it would not be permissible for them to recite the Qur’aan in the state of Haidh even though the teachers insist. As For purpose of moving the Qur’an from place to place is concerned, she would not be permitted to directly touch the Mushaf (Quran). However if it is held by means of a detachable covering such as a Qur’an carriercase or a piece of cloth etc. than she would be permitted to thereby hold the Qur’an for relocation purposes.
