Method of Washing Hands and Feet in Wudhu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

Assalamu alaykum.Sheikh please i want you to describe how to wash the arm(from the fingertip) and the method of washing the feet in wudu if one is performing wudu with a plastic kettle. Also,do scholars usually use their hand to rub the sole of the feet in wudu or how?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salām wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,

One could seek the assistance of another to pour water for him whilst making Wuḍū.

If there is no one available to assist, then one may pour water with the left hand onto the right hand, place the kettle down, and use the left hand to rub the portion of the right hand which needs to be washed, and the same vice versa.

For the feet, one may pour water with the left hand whilst washing with the right hand.

It should also be noted that the sole of the feet, as well as the rest of the feet up to, and including the ankles should be washed with the hand by rubbing the water on to it and not merely sufficing on passing a wet hand over it.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
