Question:

Is it all right to listens to Quranic recitation or to the names of Allah while working, specifically if the person is washing clothes in the washroom (like we have nowadays the toilet, bathroom and sink combined area.

Answer:

In The Name Of Allah, The Most-Merciful, The Most Kind

It is prohibited to read or listen to the Qur’ān or make dhikr if one is relieving themselves, or sitting on the toilet, or there is filth close by that has not been flushed or covered, or if one is undressed (i.e. not covered between the navel and the knees). If none of these conditions is true, and the room has both a sink and a toilet, but the toilet has been cleaned of any filth and impurities, then it would be permissible to listen to the Qur’ān and the names of Allāh while washing clothes in the sink (Raddu al-Muḥtār, 1/344).
