Asalam walikum, one of my friend was talking about their relative with cancer, the Drs has told the family that his cancers spread and he hasn’t got much time left, they thinking about taking him to this Pir which can cure cancer and my friends saying that this Pir has cured people from cancer before, I told him that this can not be true because only allah can cure, can you give me an explanation with quran ayaths and hadith to back it up t that pirs are not curers and also could you tell me if the thabees's that are given by moulana if they are allowed or not with some Quran and hadith to back it up.

Shirk is of two types:
-
Shirk fiz Zaat. In other words associating partners with the being of Allah. For example a person says there are two or three gods. (May Allah forbid) -
Shirk Fis Sifaat. In other words to associate partners in the attributes of Allah, for example, to believe that someone other than Allah has knowledge of the unseen or can cure. (Umdatul Fiqh p66 v1)
A person who gives another person these kind of titles or accepts this kind of title has committed an act worthy of being called ‘Shirk’. One’s Imaan does not remain intact and whoever has these sorts of beliefs, has indeed committed Shirk. (Fatawa Mahmoodiyah p.123 v.1)
Regarding your question, such a belief will amount to Shirk Fis Sifaat.
