Using haraam money to fund studies; salary thereafter

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

assaalam aleikum

what is the verdict on a person who has used a haraam money to fund his studies?

and, the salary he will get after working will it be haraam also?

Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

In principle, it is impermissible to make use of haraam money[1]. One who willingly utilizes haraam money will be sinful and answerable to Allaah Ta’aala on the Day of Judgment. However, the salary from a related job will not be haraam as one will be receiving the salary for the work he does.

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
