Musa (‘alayhis salam) and the worm that was praising Allah Ta’ala

Can you relate the story of Musa (‘alayhis salam), when he was walking and hit a rock with his staff and there as a worm inside the stone that was praising Allah.

Answer

This incident has been cited by certain Mufassirun. This seems to be a Historical (Israely) Narration and should be quoted as such. The full incident is as follows:

When Musa (‘alayhis salam) went to receive wahy (divine revelation) from Allah Ta’ala, the thought of the well being of his family crossed his heart. Allah Ta’ala commanded him to strike a rock which split, revealing a second rock. Musa (‘alayhis salam) struck the second rock which split revealing a third rock. When Musa (‘alayhis salam) split the third rock, a tiny worm emerged eating something. Musa (‘alayhis salam) was given the ability to hear the worm praising Allah with the following words ‘Glory be to the one who can see me, hear me, knows my residing place, remembers me and does not forget/neglect me’
