A du’a of Musa (‘alayhis salam)

Question

Is it correct that this was a du’a Nabi Musa (‘alayhis salam) would also recite?

Allahumma anta khalaqtani wa anta tahdini wa anta tut’imuni wa anta tasqini wa anta tumituni wa anta tuhyini

Answer

Yes, this is correct. Sayyiduna Samurah ibn Jundub (radiyallahu ‘anhu) heard this multiple times from Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma). When Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Salam (radiyallahu ‘anhu) heard this, he said, “Allah Ta’ala had granted these words to Musa (‘alayhis salam). He used to recite this du’a seven times daily and Allah Ta’ala would grant him whatever he asked for.”

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 1032)

See the Arabic text of the du’a and authenticity here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
