Can Cats Eat Poultry-Derived Food?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I wanted to find out if we allowed to feed the cats dry/wet cat food that has derivatives of poultry (not pork)

Bismillaah

A: If the cat food contains meat of poultry, it will not be permissible to feed it to the cat as this meat is haraam and carrion (as these types of meats are generally obtained from animals which are not slaughtered according to the Shar’ee method of slaughter). It is not permissible for a believer to purchase, sell or even feed an animal meat which is haraam.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
