I just recently got married, and i know that each time we have intercourse we must perform ghusl. I keep having to take a showers 3 times a day. My hair is thin and damaged now. Can i do masa instead? The use of washing my hair (even without shampoo) is damaging my hair it is falling out. this is causing me to not have intercouse and causing other stress because i simply do not have the time to take 3 showers a day ( i can wash body but hair takes too long for a woman who has semi-long hair like me.
Can i do masa instead? I feel this is effecting my psychological state as i constantly feel unattractive and the showereing many times a day just doesnt make any sense.

Assalāmu ῾alaykum wa Rahmatullāhi Wabarakātu
In principle, during ghusl a woman has to wash her hair in the following way:
- If a woman’s hair is not plaited, then all the hair together with the roots (i.e. where it touches the head) must be wetted. And if one hair is left dry, ghusl is incorrect.
- If her hair is plaited, the woman is exempted from wetting all the hair, but it is necessary to make water reach all the roots of the hair. And if it is not possible to wet the roots of the hair without loosening the plaits, then the hair should be unplaited and wetted as well. [1]
If it is detrimental for a woman to wet her head due to any health related issue any or fear of aggravating the illness, then she should wash her body and make masah of the head. [2]

و فى السعودي ان امكن فسخ القلفة بلا مشقة يجب و الا لا (وكفى ،بل اصل ضفيرتها ) اى شعر المراة المضفور للحرج،ا ما المنقوض فيفرض غسل كلها اتفاقا ولو لم يبتل اصلها يجب نقضها مطلقا هو الصحيح.(رد المحتار:1/ 153
وفرض الغسل المضمضة والاستنشاق وغسل سائر البدن(هداية،1/36)
وكذا يجب على المراة ايصال الماء الى اثناء شعرها اذا كان منقوضا لانه يمكن ايصال الماء الى ذالك غير حرج .و اما اذا كان شعرها صغيرا لايجب ،ولان ضفيرتها اذا كا نت مشدودة فتكليفها نقضها يؤدى الى الحرج..(بدائع الصنائع:1/268,دار الكتب العلمية)
عن عبد الله بن رافع ،عن ام سلمة قالت قلت:يا رسول الله انى امراة اشد ضفر راسى افانقضه لغسل الجنابة؟ قال لا،انما يكفيك ان تحثى على راسك ثلاث حثيات من ماء ثم تفيضى على سائر جسدك الماء فتطهرين او قال ،فاذا انت قد تطهرت.(ترميذى:188)

ولو ضرها غسل رأسها تركته وقيل تمسحه ،ولا تمنع نفسها عن زوجها(قوله و لا تمنع نفسها)اى خوفا من وجوب الغسل عليها اذا وطئها لانه حقه ولها مندوحة عن غسل راسها(رد المحتار،1/159)
والمراة فى الاغتسال كالرجل ولكن الشعر المرتسل من ذوائبها غسلها موصوع فى الغسل اذا بلغ الماء اصول شعرها بخلاف الرجل(منية،16)
