Masa‘il Related to Performing Umrah.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

Asalamualaikum.

Hazrat, please confirm if one does perform second Umrah the next day, then is it still wajib to do halaq even though there is no hair to be shaved?

The majority of the foot must be showing. Right?

So, one cannot wear those sandals that covers the front part of the foot? Please clarify.

Jazak’Allah.

  • Yes, it is mandatory to perform halaq(shaving the head completely) or qasr(shortening of hair) even if there is no hair on one’s head. Halaq and qasr are conditions for the validity of the umrah without which the umrah is considered invalid.
  • While one is wearing ihram it is necessary to wear such a slipper (or sandals) in which the top bone of the feet is visible. This bone (also known as metatarsals and found where the lace of a shoe is usually located) is present in the middle of the foot (slightly elevated).
  • It is impermissible to perform umrah in such slippers where this middle bone becomes hidden.
