If bad is from Allah then where is the fault of People?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

According to Musnad Ahmed, Abdullah ibne-Amar Radiyallahu anhum narrates that Nabi sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: No person is a true believer until he believes that destiny, good and bad, is from Allah. So my question is that if bad is from Allah then where is the fault of People? Why people will get punishment for bad activity in the day of judgement.

Answer

This question needs a lengthy explanation. Very briefly some aspects are called mutashabihaat. The wisdom behind it is to test our faith. If we have proper and complete faith, Allah will reward us – This is why belief in Taqdeer is from the tenets of our Iman. If it was within the grasp of our comprehension, why would we be required to believe in it?

Summary is that the world belongs to Allah. He cannot be questioned about what he does, whereas we will be held to account. Allah likes good and hates bad. However bad things also bring good results at times. Killing is a bad thing however, Shahaadat brings a very high rank for the Shaheed.

Shaytaan is the root for all evil – But his confrontation brings one closer to Allah. Fire burns houses and Masjids – however without fire how would we cook the food. Zina is bad – but without the sexual desire, how would reproduction take place, and so on.

We might think something is bad in itself, but looking at the whole picture is needed.
