If a wife commits adultery, what should the husband do?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

If a women commits adultery (zina), and the husband comes to know about it. What should the husband do? Does the nikah with the husband still remain valid. Can the husband take care of the child?

If something like this is committed by a lady then she should be reprimanded and scolded and the encouraged to repent i.e. do taubah. But this does not break the marriage contract. And if as a result of this type of activity a child is conceived or born, then the child would be considered the son/daughter of the husband, not of the person with whom the lady was involved with. Because it is a rule that a child is considered the son/daughter of the man to whom the mother is married to; no matter if the conception of the child is considered to be legitimate or illegitimate.
