Can you please explain this Hadith. I have noticed that many men take this Hadith to their advantage and try to oppress their wives unlawfully. The Hadith is as follows that Rasoolullah SalallahuAlahi was sallam said that if a woman had to bow down to another being besides Allah azo wa jal it would be her husband. can you please tell me in detail the explanation of this Hadith as many men that I know of take advantage. Could you please explain in English.
The meaning of this hadith is that Allah has elevated the status of a husband. That’s why it is the legal, Islamic responsibility of a pious wife to respect and obey her husband. If a man gives a reference of this hadith with the intention of defining the proper relationship between man and wife and to ask for his legal rights, then it is okay. But if someone misuses this hadith in order to try to gain unrightful power over his wife or to try to convince his wife that he is better than her in all and every aspect, then it is not correct. According to Allah the best person amongst us is the most pious amongst us; no matter if that person is a man or a woman. There are many ladies who are more pious and better than men; and similarly there are many men who are more pious then ladies in the eyes of Allah. Whoever is more pious and religious, he or she is closer towards Allah. In the attainment of rewards for any action, men and women are equal. For example:
the same reward that Allah gives a man for saying “Subhanallah” he will also give to a woman; also, the reward that a man receives for reading the Quran is the same that a woman will get; so on and so forth.
