There is no particular prophetic tradition regarding the topic of ‘raf’a yadain’. And whatever source you can find in support of it you’ll also find a source against it. The best explanation in this issue is that which is given by Abdullah bin Masoud who said as long as we observed the prophet peace be upon him do it we did it, when we saw him stop we also stopped doing it. So we know from this that raising hands during the prayer was something done at the beginning and later it was abolished. At the end there was only ‘takbeera tahreema’.
