Is Ibn Taymiyas aqeedah deviant?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
Is Ibn Taymiyas aqeedah deviant? If so why? Is the aqeedah of us Deobandis different from his? (U.S.A)
There is no difference between Ibn Taymiyyah and the Ulama of Deoband in terms of maslak. Both Ibn Taymiyyah and the Ulama of Deoband are from the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah. The difference between the two is that of their respective schools of jurisprudence (fiqh). Ibn Taymiyyah was Hambali by mazhab and the ulama of Deoband are Hanafi by mazhab. However, despite both being from the Alhus Sunnah wal Jamaat, there exist some slight differences some between the two in small minor issues, but these issues are based upon academic differences and are very detailed and deep. In those fiqhi issues which there exist differences between the two, we hold that opinion which coincides with the opinion of the ulama of Deoband. There are some differences between them in terms of aqidah, but they are very small and detailed, and it is not possible to mention them here. If there is a specific issue in which you would like clarification, please mention it specifically.
