New Ehram after Ghusl

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah

We are planning to perform umrah next month. The journey from my hometown of Hyderabad to Makkah is long. During the travel, lodging and settling down before our group is taken to perform umrah, it is possible that we may get some time to rest up. If ghusl becomes wajib while we are in the state of ihram (due to any possible reasons which make ghusl wajib), what is the ruling in that case? Is it permissible to wear the same ihram after the ghusl or should we change?

JazakAllah Khair

 الجواب وباللہ التوفیق

 Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah

1- While in the state of ihram, if ghusl becomes wajib then it is permissible to perform ghusl. However, it should be noted that one must refrain from using such soaps, shampoo or lotion which have fragrance in it. In addition, the head should not be washed in such a manner that the hair are broken. Similarly, the face and head should not be wiped with a cloth (or towel) as touching the face with a cloth has been disliked while in this state.

2. If there is no impurity on any part of the ihram, the same ihram can be worn again. If there is impurity then it can be washed and reworn. It is also permissible to replace the sheet if needed.
