Ear & Nose Piercings For Women

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Question: Is is permitted for a woman to have a nose piercing?

Answer: In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful & Compassionate

The basis–for both men and women–is that they cannot do any permanent “damage” to any part of their body. This is because our bodies are a trust from Allah.

Piercing the ear and nose (if customarily accepted, whether in one’s area or among upright Muslims) for women is an exception to this general rule [Ibn `Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]. Other piercings (including the ear for men) remain on the original basis of impermissibility.
