Misgivings (waswasa) about purity issues

My question is regarding tahara and waswasa. For the past year or so, I have been experiencing waswasa and doubts regarding my wudu – have I actually broken it or not. Basically I would feel/think that extra urine would come out after I had made ablution, especially during the prayer. Afterwards I would check to make sure if there was invalidation and there was nothing that came out. I spoke to a teacher about this and he told me that it was just waswasa and that I should ignore it. I did and it went away, alhamdulillah. Lately it has been coming back and I now when I would check, sometimes there would not be anything and others there would be something, either urine or madhi. My question is this: What should I do for this situation and exactly to what extent does one check to see if something has come out? Does one check their undergarments? Their private parts? Does one touch and examine the private part to see if anything has or is about to come out?
