In one of your answers on iddah, it is said that the wisdom of the iddah period is to find out about possible pregnancy. If the woman’s husband passes away, and she is certain that there is no such possibility (e.g. due to severe longtime illness of man before he passed away etc), do the rules of the iddah still apply with the same strictness?
